The January-February 2025 issue of Catholic Herald magazine has been published. The theme for this issue is Catholic education. The digital edition of the magazine is available at https://catholicmagazines.org/magazine-archive/catholic-herald/sac0125.
In the cover story, Catholic school leaders in Red Bluff detail how Sacred Heart School's major renovations have stirred community gratitude and hope in Red Bluff. Bill Koppes, president of the Northern Valley Catholic Academies, says he can't remember the last time that the school had significant renovation. The 55-year-old structure and its hallowed halls have seen a fair share of wear and tear. Short of a new roof 20 years ago, the Catholic elementary school had never previously been able to invest in modern improvements or substantial renovations. Michelle Ferreira, principal, says the renovations are far more than cosmetic, uplifting and giving a 21st century feel to the buildings once deemed old.
Other stories in this issue include Bishop Jaime Soto's column on "The discovery of the artist's notres encourages us to discover our own inner life"; new principal Jaime Ignacio of St. Vincent Ferrer School in Vallejo reflects on God's constancy in her life; Katie Perata, executive director of Catholic schools in the diocese gives her perspective on "lighting the path of hope" in Catholic schools; principals of the Solano County Catholic schools describe how their is strength in their collaboration, as they are working together to build stronger communities and future leaders; and Catholics come together for their neighbors in need through the upcoming 2025 Annual Catholic Appeal.
