April is designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month. We are called through scripture and teaching to protect the life and dignity of the human person. Throughout the year, but especially in the month of April, all are asked to increase awareness, to educate ourselves and the community, and to seek healing for those who have been so tragically impacted by this horror.

Pope Francis has asked parishes in the Diocese of Sacramento to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. It will be taken up in parishes on Good Friday, April 18.
The Good Friday collection helps preserve the sacred shrines, and helps the Church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and other religious education. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians in the Holy Land. In these times of crisis, the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.
