Vocation Promotion
Vocation Cross Program for Youth/Young Adult Groups
The Vocation Cross Program is currently in full force and has been traveling throughout the diocese. Each month a youth group accepts the cross from another youth group and then prays for vocations for thirty days. The vocation cross which stands over 2 feet tall was made by Guilermo Vergara who is an active at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
The program started in August of 2008 with a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament by Bishop Jaime Soto. During this Mass, the relics of the Mexican Martyrs who were members of the Knights of Columbus were present on display.
The importance of prayer and the need for vocations is clearly recognized by the youth of the diocese. Currently over 21 parishes or organizations have participated in the monthly prayer program for vocations; they are as follows:
Holy Rosary Parish/Woodland St. Joseph Parish/Elk Grove Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish/Sacramento St. John Vianney Parish/Rancho Cordova Holy Spirit Parish/Fairfield SEARCH/Sacramento St. Rose Parish/Sacramento St. Christopher Parish/Galt St. Isidore Parish/Yuba City St. Dominic Parish/Orland Sacred Heart Parish/Red Bluff Sacred Heart Parish/Anderson St. Francis Parish/Burney St. Joseph/Our Lady of Mercy Parishes/Redding St. Thomas More Parish/Paradise St. Monica Parish/Willows St. Joseph Parish/Marysville St. Patrick Parish/Grass Valley St. Clare Parish/Roseville St. Joseph Parish/Lincoln
Sacramento presently has 35 seminarians in various stages of formation for the priesthood. With the prayer program, we trust that the diocese will see many more vocations fluorish in the future.

Promoción Vocacional
Campaña de Oración con la Cruz Vocacional para grupos de jóvenes y adultos.
La Campaña de Oración con la Cruz Vocacional sigue en vigor y se ha estado promoviendo por toda la diócesis. Cada mes un grupo juvenil recibe la Cruz de algún otro grupo para luego, orar por la vocaciones durante 30 días. La Cruz, que mide 2 pies de altura, fue construida por Guillermo Vergara, quien es un miembro activo de la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.
La campaña dio inicio en agosto del 2008 con una Misa celebrada en la Catedral de Santísimo Sacramento y presidida por el señor Obispo Jaime Soto. En dicha Misa, estuvieron presentes los restos de los mártires mexicanos, quienes en vida formaron parte de los Caballeros de Colón.
Los jóvenes de la Diócesis reconocen con claridad la importancia de la oración y la necesidad de vocaciones. De hecho, más de 21 parroquias u organizaciones parroquiales han participado en le mes de oración por las vocaciones. Estas parroquias se enlistan a continuación:

2011 Discernment Retreats in English
Discernment Evenings have been scheduled for the second Monday of each month, beginning on January 10, 2011. They will be held at: St. John Vianney House of Discernment, 2330 John Still Drive, Sacramento, CA at 6:00 p.m. (dinner followed by discernment program). This program is geared to young men between the ages of 17 to 35. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Vocations Office (916.733.0258).
